The new Home Bargains Store attracted hundreds of eager shoppers in Blackburn.

The discount store off Wainwright Way officially opened its doors to the public today.

Early afteroon, queuing shoppers did not seem too concerned at the wait to enter the store where only a restricted number of people were permitted in the building at any one time.

Once inside they found a range of household food and goods and also includes a small garden centre and café shop.

Technical problems with card payment machines meant shoppers were waiting up to 25 minutes to get through the check out.

Christmas decorations were already on display in the store and (below) the cafe area.

One shopper said, “It is bit unfortunate and frustrating that the payment machines was not working but staff were keeping us informed throughout which was helpful. Staff were also on hand to offer chocolates to people waiting which was a good touch.

“They had one queue for cash payments and one for credit card payments which was a lot longer.”
