Cocktails and drinks on an island seem like a far away dream for so many but not the people of Cirencester.

Somewhere Else; a stylish bar set in an old coaching inn, was recently granted permission by Cirencester District Council to extend their outside space by putting cushioned seating along the wall to the front of the building and creating a unique space on the adjacent traffic island.

Four tables socially distanced sit on the island so customers can enjoy cocktails, beers and food from the well known bar as well as the last of the September sun.

Somewhere Else manager Andy Sampson said: “It is a great spot to people watch and enjoy the fine weather we are having at the moment.

“We have managed to extend our business capacity by adding these tables whilst delivering a novel and fun space to enjoy whilst adhering to current government guidelines.”

The pub was granted permission for the seating due to the introduction of government legislation back in July.

The Business and Planning Act was designed to make it quicker and easier for hospitality businesses to extend their licenses to cover outdoor seating and tables.
