Specsavers has made a number of redundancies at its Cirencester store so staff can adhere to new social distancing guidelines.

Five members of staff at the shop, situated on Cricklade Street, have left the business with a further colleague at risk of redundancy.

Store directors Simran Sangha and Kelly-Anne Nelson said in a joint statement: "It’s with sadness and regret that we have had to make the difficult decision to reduce the size of the team at Specsavers in Cirencester.

"This is due to the impact social distancing measures have had on the way we run the store to keep customers and colleagues safe.

"We have had to restructure the business to make sure we can adhere to new social distancing guidelines, meaning fewer colleagues can be on the shop floor at any one time.

"Five people have left the business as a result of these changes.

"We are currently in consultation with one other colleague, who is at risk of redundancy.

"This has been a difficult process for everyone involved and we’d personally like to thank the team for their professionalism and commitment during this time."
