A council have acted after ‘confusing’ road markings were causing drivers to stop in the middle of the road.

A junction was painted outside the Lions Hotel Pub on Wensley Road, Blackburn last month and has been baffling drivers ever since. Heading away from the town centre motorists are forced to slow down at a junction as they approach Bent Gap Lane. To the left is an entrance to a scrap yard where the gates are locked.

Drivers heading this way slow down but for no purpose it seems.

One motorist said, “There seems to be no reason for this junction in the middle of a road.

“We are forced to slow down and then realise there is no point in doing do.

“Maybe they began doing some work on a project and then stopped?”

Blackburn with Darwen Council have said the markings will be removed within 48 hours.
