A revamped Blackburn restaurant is offering half-price meals during weekends throughout September.

The Shahi Qila based on Shear Bank Road was closed throughout the lockdown and reopened two weeks ago. Owners said they would be extending the half-price offer on all meals to ‘celebrate the spirit of Blackburn’.

Throughout the month of August as part of the ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ Scheme Restaurants, pubs and cafes offered 50 per cent off the bill, up to a maximum discount of £10 per head. The discount applied to all food and soft drinks when customers dined in venues on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

The fifty per cent discount at the Shahi Qila runs until 27 September. The buffet meals will be served by staff from behind protective screens.

Manager Shazad Zia said they would be offering half price meals Thursdays through to Sunday - four days a week.

He said, “We were closed for six months and reopened in August. We thought this would be a great way to re-launch after the recent renovations. We have changed the restaurant totally.

“This offer is to reward the people of Blackburn and as a thank you for our customers.

“The staff and the team here have worked hard to make this a ‘covid protected’ food establishment and we hope people will pay us a visit. Extra staff have been deployed to serve customers from behind the protective screening”

Shazad added they wanted to have the offer on weekends, “I think it is good to have on during the weekends as that is when people want to come out.

“People must book in advance and the offer is only for food and not drinks.”

The restaurant has a one way system in place and only the ground floor is in use.

Elsewhere some businesses are extending discount food offers in September but none are offering the 50 per cent deal.

Heavenly Desserts Blackburn have announced a saving of 25 per cent on bills Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

A spokesperson from the Heavenly Desserts restaurant said, “This offer is open for eat in only and includes drinks. The ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ scheme has been popular and it is important for people to stay confident about coming out.

“Our delivery side is already busy so we thought this would be great for our diners wanting to eat in.”

Roberto’s Bar and Grill, based on Richmond Terrace are offering 20 per cent off Wednesday, Thursdays and Sundays on food only.

Kaspa’s Desserts, based on Preston New Road says it is giving back to ‘everyday heroes’, including nurses, fire fighters, police officers and the Armed Forces, by offering a 20% discount off their total bill.

The East Z East Resaurant in Blackburn is offering 20 per cent off throughout the week.

Deliveroo said it will offer customers of small, independent restaurants £5 off a £20 order delivered on the first three days of every week during September.
