A woman has walked 89 miles to raise money for the Kingsley House nursing home in Tetbury in memory of her grandparents.

Laura Colledge decided to take on the challenge after her grandad, who was a resident at the nursing home, sadly passed away on August 6.

Her grandmother also sadly died shortly after her grandad.

Laura initially intended to walk 86 miles as her grandad was 86 when he died, but decided to walk 89 miles following the death of her grandmother who was 89-years-old.

Laura praised the ‘incredible care’ her grandad received at Kingsley House.

“Our grandad moved from the Midlands to look after us when I was 11,” said Laura.

“He was working class and proud and he dedicated his life to us and grandma."

She added: "My Grandad battled with Alzheimer’s and was in and out of care homes and hospital until he found Kingsley House who looked after him incredibly well.

“I‘ve raised money for Alzheimer's before but now I wanted to raise money for Kingsley House, their staff and their residents."

Laura completed the challenge earlier this week and has now raised just over £700 for the care home, smashing her target of £300.
