There’s never been a better time to get on your bike, writes Mark.

GPs are being urged to prescribe cycling as they know it provides many benefits.

Not only does it contribute to general well-being (in all senses) but it also helps to improve congestion on our roads and the quality of the air we breathe.

Now with the Government’s Fix Your Bike Scheme contributing £50 towards the repair of a used bicycle, help is also at hand to those with limited funds.

At e-motion we strongly encourage people to consider the electric bike option.

An e-bike helps all ages but particularly those that are older, less fit or put off by the physical effort of an ordinary bike. 

It is easier and less sweat than a traditional bicycle, as an e-bike has a ‘pedal assist’ motor to help cycle up hills and tackle longer journeys.

It is also reassuring to know that you have back-up onboard when you start venturing further afield.

Another great advantage is that you also get more exercise than walking, and cover far more distance in much less time.

One of our customers, for instance, had a 40-minute walk to work – now she has an e-bike, her commute takes just 15 minutes. 

At weekends she goes out cycling with her husband and children without any reservations.

As she neatly put it 'e-bikes are a great equalizer as the whole family can enjoy a cycle ride together regardless of fitness'. 

In a recent study 1 in 3 felt an e-bike made them feel more confident to tackle hills and keep up with traffic and a good many people are using an e-bike to support recovery from injuries or health difficulties.
