ON Thursday, August 27, Adele Dark is returning to the railway carriage at Tetbury Goods Shed.

Adele will be running her relaxed drawing and painting classes, focusing on techniques to develop your own personal sketchbook style.

At last, a chance to practise in convivial company again (though of course social distancing and sanitising precautions will be in place in the classroom).

Class starts at 10am and finishes at 12.30pm. The cost is £20 per session.

Bring a sketchbook and mask (unless exempt) and, if you have them, your own pencils, brushes and ink.

As numbers are limited, please book ahead with Adele either by email at adele.dark@gmail.com or by phone on 07751 089860.

TETBURY Town Council would like to draw your attention to the fact that there have been a few cases of antisocial behaviour by some destructive individuals in the early hours of the morning on August 13, including damage to our office building.

Other reports are of rubbish being thrown on top of cars, bins being moved, damage around the football club, recreation area, and the Goods Shed around 2am to 3am.

A spokesperson for the council said: “We have managed to gain some security footage, but if anyone has more information or security footage regarding these or possible related incidents and has not yet spoken to police is asked to call 101, quoting CR/026314/20 of August 13.”

NATALIA the new receptionist/ administrator has come up with a great idea acclimatising to her new role.

She told me that: “I’m looking for some budding film students or enthusiasts to help create a crime solving/whodunit short film with our local police museum.

"The museum is currently closed for the time being so this would give everyone a fun thing to watch and get involved in.

"Hopefully this is a fabulous opportunity for someone to add to their portfolio.

"If you would like to get involved then please ring 01666 504670 or email reception@tetbury.gov.uk.”

ON August 14, Tetbury mayor Ann Pearce along with other councillors were showed around the new Upton Mill Care Home, where she was greeted by Libby Miles, client services manager.

As a thank you, Ann was presented with a bouquet of flowers.

Upton Mill is a 64 bedded care home offering a wide range of care support from residential care needs through to end of life nursing needs as well as support for people living with a dementia.

Porthaven care homes LTD are proud to have been able to deliver Upton Mill to the town of Tetbury in the middle of the Covid pandemic and are ready and able to support the people of Tetbury and the surrounding areas in their care requirements.

Upton Mill will be offering permanent placements alongside respite stays to enable residents to choose how they want to live their lives, in particular supporting those who wish to stay at home by offering short breaks to enable their loved ones to rest and recover from time to time.

Upton Mill wants to become a hub for the community, enabling different groups to connect with those who will be residents of the home.

This will include intergenerational links, links with local charities as well as hosting events at the home, when it is safe to do so.

Libby added: "It is so important for us as a new home to become a part of the community.

"We have recruited a lot of local people to join us as staff which demonstrates our commitment to the towns economy, bringing employment at a time when it is needed across the country.

"Moving into a care home is a very daunting experience.

"We are here to help allay some of those fears by providing a quality service through the standard of care we will be offering in an outstanding environment.

"We want to support families in gaining back their relationships by taking on the roles of carers and giving the chance for the care roles within families to gradually change back to their roles as husband, wife, parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle etc.”

Ann said she was amazed at the luxurious feel of the home and the finishing touches that would make sure any residents would be safe and feel at home.

Welcome Libby and your great team to Tetbury, and of course the future residents.

GREAT news as The Whistlestop Cafe has returned to a five day opening week.

From now on the opening times are on Wednesdays, the café opens at 12 noon instead of its regular 10am but then from Thursday to Sunday it opens as normal from 10am to 4pm.
