IT’S always good to report honesty, writes Kevin Painter.

Lorna of Jester Antiques was pleasantly surprised when a Mr Hilliar came into her shop with a bag of money.

Apparently Mr Hilliar was confronted by a Cotswold District Council (CDC) parking machine that decided to churn money out in the style similar to a Las Vegas fruit machine!

So he scooped the money up and took it to Lourna to see if she could pass it on to the appropriate person, she then thanked him for his honesty.

Not knowing who to approach, Lourna decided to give the money to her business neighbour Lauren of Henrietta’s House.

Interestingly, Lauren is one of the businesses campaigning to to get CDC to rethink their plans to increase parking charges by 30 per cent.

Lauren rang myself to give me the money to present to the council although she found it quite ironic that even CDC’s own machines must have thought that they are charging too much!

She added: “I do hope that CDC see this as a sign! This shows what lovely visitors and customers visit and use our town.”
