POLICE have confirmed that a scooter rider died in the crash near Fairford on Saturday night.

Officers were called at 7.55pm with a report of a collision between a red Vespa and a food delivery van on London Road, a stretch of the A417.

Emergency services attended and a 33-year-old man from Swindon was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin and the coroner have been informed.

Police thanked the members of the public who conducted CPR before the emergency services arrived at the scene for their efforts.

Officers investigating the collision are still keen to hear from anyone who may have relevant dashcam footage or who witnessed the incident and have not yet spoken to police.

Officers would especially like to talk to to anyone who may have seen either the red Piaggio Vespa travelling the A417 in the Fairford area or the food delivery van in the Lechlade area.
