TOMORROW, Kemble and Ewen Parish Council will be holding a Zoom meeting.

The first item on the agenda remains, as usual, to receive any contributions from residents.

Residents can join the meeting by obtaining details of the video link from the Parish clerk.

THIS Saturday, the Kemble Royal British Legion and Women’s Section Standards will be parading at Kemble War Memorial 10.45am-11.15am to mark the anniversary of VJ75 day.

This static act of Remembrance will take the form of 10.45am - Meet at Memorial. 10.50am - form up/Standards take post. 10.57am - Exhortation/Last Post Bugler will play. 10.58am - two minute silence. 11am - Reveille/Kohima Epitaph.

Wreath laid on behalf of the community by Mrs Dora Larner (wife of late husband John who was serving in the Far East at the time) Town Cryer Proclamation. Final Blessing 11.15am Disperse.

Members of the community should adhere to social distancing as laid down and no more that 30 persons in attendance around the war memorial.

After the dispersal you are invited to make your way to the Tavern Inn for an informal meet up and refreshment.

Dan the manager has kindly offered half price on first drinks for those wearing the RBL badge, so please remember to wear yours.

Nationally an event will be screened on BBCone from the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire and will incorporate wreath-laying activity at several of the relevant memorials and artefacts linked to the WW2 campaign in South-East Asia.

In the evening the BBC will also broadcast a MOD-led commemorative programme from London.
