A 36-YEAR-OLD has been spared an immediate jail sentence for biting a man in Cirencester.
Gary May, of Clarence Street, Gloucester, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm after previously pleading not guilty at Cheltenham Magistrates Court on August 6.
Magistrates heard how May assaulted the man in the Cotswold town on September 22 last year.
May was sentenced to 22 weeks in jail, which was suspended for 18 months, after the court found that there was a prospect of rehabilitation.
He was ordered to carry out 40 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months, pay £300 in compensation, and pay costs of £432.
