Businesses in Wiltshire are being urged to apply for vital grant funding as the schemes are due to close at the end of the month.

The government grants, which have helped nearly 7,500 businesses in Wiltshire during the pandemic will close on Friday, August 28.

Philip Whitehead, leader of Wiltshire Council said that nearly £89m was given out by the council through the Small Business Grants Fund and the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grants Fund and over £3m through the Discretionary Grants Fund.

“These grants have been vital to our local economy, helping to ensure the survival of shops, cafes, hotels, restaurants and many other businesses,” said Cllr Whitehead.

"We have now reached the final stages of these grant schemes and it is imperative eligible businesses receive the financial support that is available to them before it is too late.

“If you think you are eligible, please complete the online application form and provide all the supporting documents required as soon as possible or by the 5pm Monday, August 24 2020 deadline.”

After the grants funding closes on August 28, any unspent cash must be returned to the government.
