A WOMAN was devastated to find her car covered in gloss paint and the tyres slashed.

The car, a Vauxhall Mokka, was parked on the drive of her home in Cambridge, near Dursley, when it was targeted on Saturday night.

The car's owner woke on Sunday morning to find red gloss paint had been thrown on to the windscreen and three of the tyres had been slashed.

An empty red paint tin was found in a nearby field.

The woman, who has asked not be named, said: "This has been really shocking and upsetting to deal with."

She said she couldn't understand why her car has been targeted as she has not fallen out with anyone, or been involved in anything that might cause someone to do this.

"We've no idea why it happened and can only think it was a case of mistaken identity," she said.

"We’ve been in our house for 10 years and have never seen any crime of any kind around here."

Although she does not have CCTV at her home, she is hoping that one of her neighbour's CCTV will have captured the culprit on screen.

"Thankfully we do have another vehicle but it’s very old," she said.

"The Mokka was our main car. The insurers think it’ll be a right off as the paint is gloss paint and it’s on every panel.

"Our insurance would give us a hire car if it was repairable but as it’s a write off we won’t get one so it’s going to be quite inconvenient until it’s all sorted."

Anyone with any information that might help officers to investigate the matter is asked to call Gloucestershire Police on 101, quoting incident number 169 of August 2.
