AN ARTIST with a passion for the Gloucestershire countryside is set to exhibit her latest collection in the relaxed surroundings of a village pub.

Wendy Thompson has joined forces with the team at the Rose and Crown in Nympsfield, to mount a show of artworks that capture her love of the Cotswolds.

As well as a pint and some delicious pub grub, visitors to the Grade II listed 300-year-old village local will be able to enjoy Wendy’s latest original pen and ink drawings.

“It is no secret that many industries have struggled during the lockdown period,” said Wendy.

“Two such industries are hospitality and the art world, each put on pause while the world needed to stay safe inside. But now, things are stirring.

“With pubs reopening, there has been a definite and strong sense of solidarity between the integral British pub and the artist.

“In these difficult times, we must all work together to support one another.

“With this philosophy in mind, I have organised an exclusive art exhibition in The Rose and Crown in Nympsfield.”

The exhibition opens this week, with the first viewing on Thursday from 6pm to 8pm, where there will be canapés and fizz for attendees.

“I have a passion for the countryside and enjoy creating my sketches live onsite,” said Wendy.

“I can often be seen sketching in and around the Cotswolds in Gloucestershire, where I now live with my family.

“I love to be out of the studio, meeting new people and seeing life, nature, feel the fresh air around, this gives me inspiration and the excitement to develop my work further.

“Time in lockdown has provided me with a fabulous opportunity to explore the Cotswolds countryside, creating new works en plein air and on location,” she said.

“This exhibition will be a marvellous opportunity to enjoy some artworks over a well deserved, and long overdue, pint.” See artbywendythompson.com
