Cotswold MP Sir Geoffrey Clifton Brown joined an audience of families for an afternoon performance of Tweedy: Al Fresco at Cirencester’s Barn Theatre.

Sir Geoffrey was wowed by the popular performer in one of his many sell out shows.

Within hours of going on sale, tickets for the opening weekend were sold out so further dates were added, with two taking place on Sunday.

Sir Geoffrey said: “It is great to have the theatre back, even if just outdoors at the moment.

"Everyone enjoyed the show and there is even more to come from The Barn Theatre over the summer and we hope that all get out there and support not just them but all of the arts across the region and country.”

Hot on the heels of Tweedy, the award winning theatre have a packed August programme of outdoor theatre featuring stars from TV and stage.

Wind in the Willows, The Adventures of Doctor Dolittle, The Emperors New Clothes and Michael Morpurgo’s Private Peaceful have all been confirmed for the summer festival of theatre, which will be held using the space at Ingleside House and in the grounds of Téatro Bar and Restaurant.

Musical shows Funny Gals, featuring Natasha Barnes, from TV’s Doc Martin, The World Goes Round is also on the billing as is drama, Instructions for a Teenage Armageddon which will star Hollywood’s, Rosie Day, from the popular Outlander show.

Aaron Sidwell, the West End and BBC Eastenders actor and star of The Barn Theatre’s Shakespeare’s Henry V will appear again this time in the bard’s - A Midsummer Nights Dream,

The event will utilise the large open space at Ingleside House and Gardens adjacent to the theatre where families can watch in a safe socially distanced environment whatever the weather.
