The Hyperion House Care Home is now open to receive new admissions.

It previously had to close because of the lack of testing combined with high infection rates following discharge hospitals.

Owner Tanya Shukla said: “We had to close the home to new admissions simply to keep our existing residents and staff safe.

"We have lobbied rigorously for regular testing of staff and residents throughout the pandemic.”

Now testing has been rolled out nationally for care homes on weekly intervals, The Hyperion House Care Home has designated rooms for all new admissions, where they will be isolated for two weeks after being admitted.

They will also be barrier-nursed and tested for five to seven days after being admitted.

Once the test results are negative and the isolation period over, the new resident will be transferred to a room of their choice.

Tanya also said that she was hoping the home would be open to visitors very soon on an appointment basis with social distancing, and that the chiropody and hairdressing services with full PPE will also resume shortly.
