RESIDENTS have expressed their anger after figures show motorists have been reaching speeds of 70mph on 30mph roads in a village near Cirencester last month.

The figures show the maximum speeds recorded in the village from June 12 to June 27 with 56mph being the slowest maximum speed recorded in that time.

A driver even reached 69mph in the village just after 9am on June 26.

The fastest speed recorded was 71mph on June 23 just before 5pm.

Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard:

Commenting on the figures, one woman said: “I just want people to look and think about how they drive.

“If one person reads this and checks their speed then it’s worth it and may save a life.

“Next time you’re driving think about the people who live there, the pets and wildlife, the children that cross those roads.”

Another said: “I don’t think these drivers who are speeding through the village are considering the consequences if they have a serious accident."

While another said: "We live in Latton and it’s truly shocking how fast people drive through here."
