Gardiner Haskins reopened its Cirencester store last week and was met with overjoyed customers who had kept hold of their shopping lists waiting for the independent home and garden store to open its doors.

Retail director Steve Whitcombe said: “After 40 years serving Cirencester, it was strange to close our doors on March 23 without knowing when we would open again.

“Two and a half months later and we’re really happy to be back with our team feeling refreshed and ready to get back to it.”

Frequent shoppers of the store will notice changes to help keep them and the Gardiner Haskins team safe including staff on the door to manage the queue and the number of customers inside, directional signage, hand sanitising stations, high levels of store cleaning and social distancing reminders. Customers can be confident when shopping that they will be safe and still get the level of customer service they’ve come to expect from the independent home store.

Steve added: “Many customers have come into the store and personally thanked the staff and told us how happy they are that we’re open. They’ve kept their home and garden shopping lists and have waited for us to re-open rather than shop at a national chain store. People really are embracing the shop local spirit! The positive feedback has been really uplifting for the team.”
