We asked Standard readers to nominate their Local Lockdown Heroes and they did so in their droves.

The Priory Inn in Tetbury received a huge amount nominations after they set up a food delivery service.

Sara Burrows said: "Their effort was outstanding serving the community and keeping people employed."

Charlotte Reid added: "They served the community during the toughest times."

Karen Holland and the other volunteers from Lechlade Craft Barn also received numerous nominations. They have supplied the NHS, carers and hospices with hundreds of scrubs and masks.

Zumba instructor Meryl Miller, who has been running six classes a week via Zoom for the duration of lockdown, received plenty of nominations.

Helene Margetson said: "Her classes have helped bring a smile to so many people of all ages and not only kept us fit, helped our mental health but also helped us to all keep in touch.

"She is an incredibly talented, kind and generous lady and I seriously don’t know what many of us would’ve done without her."

Others to receive multiple nominations include the Barn Theatre, who have been holding numerous online events, and homeless charity Cirencester Signpost.

There were also calls to recognise local postmen and all NHS and key workers.
