WORK started today on a new Sainsbury's Local at Tadpole Garden Village.

The store is being built on Maizey Road and will open its doors at the end of August.

The shop will create 16 new jobs and sits alongside other developments, including two schools, a park and allotments.

Sainsbury’s property director Patrick Dunne said: “We’re delighted that work is now under way to build our new convenience store in Tadpole Garden Village.

"The new store will play an active role in the local community and will provide customers with a convenient place to buy all of their essentials.”

MP for North Swindon Justin Tomlinson said: “This award-winning development is really taking shape and I've no doubt this brand new store will be a much welcomed new facility for the thriving Tadpole Garden Village community.”

Sainsbury's says all on-site work will be done in accordance with social distancing guidelines and working practices will be kept under continuous review.
