A Tetbury pub is to shut its doors for refurbishment.

The Priory has been offering a takeaway and delivery service throughout lockdown, but will now shut entirely from Monday until restrictions on the hospitality industry are lifted.

The closure also includes Stargazy, the fish and chip shop next door.

A post on the pub's Facebook page stated: "The reason for our closure is because we are entering a critical stage in our refurbishment that will not be conducive to operate alongside a food hygiene environment.

"In addition to the works in The Priory, Stargazy will also be closing during this period as we are delighted to inform you that we will be installing a permanent Ice Cream/Crepes/Waffles Parlour alongside our fish and chip shop.

"We have been honoured to be able to support our community during these difficult times and as the government restrictions have been relaxed, allowing more business to open we feel that the local community needs will be met by all the other great local businesses of Tetbury.

"This is just a brief goodbye whilst we finalise the remaining works and implement the Covid-19 safety requirements, to ensure the safety of all our customers and staff.

"As always, thank you all for your tremendous support, stay safe, until we meet again."

A number of special offers are in place this weekend as the pub prepares to close. Call 01666 502251 to place your order.
