THE annual report of Kemble and Ewen Parish Council is now available to read via the village website www.kemble.co.uk.

In the section on community activities there is reference to Kemble village stores when back in September 2019 it was agreed by the council that Kam and Nutan Chudasama who have run the village store and post office for 30 years be made Honorary Alderman and Alderwoman of the parish of Kemble and Ewen.

A presentation was going to be made at the annual parish meeting which should have taken place in the village hall in May.

The occurrence will however be marked once we are able to reconvene at a community event and will undoubtedly include their efforts in these current times keeping villagers in essential provisions as well as keeping the post office service running.

Don’t forget the parish council can put you in touch with Lisa Rawson and volunteers who can assist with grocery shopping, prescription collection and other needs.

Contact the clerk on 01285 770758, although households in the village should have received a note through their doors with details of their local representative.

THE Kemble play area is currently closed in line with government legislation but when play can begin it remains a safe and enjoyable area for younger residents.

The council has during the past year done essential maintenance to repair some of the wooden structures within the fenced play area and unfortunately, due to damage from overloading, over £1200 was spent repairing the zip wire.

THE Kemble Community Gardens is an open green space situated to the rear of Old Manor gardens which is open to the public.

Comprising of eighteen allotments and an area of mixed grass and woodland the site provides a beautiful semi wild area for relaxation and leisure for all ages.

It is a valuable village asset and is well worth a visit but do please respect and treat accordingly.
