Here are the death announcements carried in the Standard this week.

Stuart Carter

Passing of Stuart Carter, dearly loved brother of Wendy, Simon and Marcia.

The death is announced of Stuart Carter, the last signalman at Cirencester Town Station until its closure in 1966.

He moved to London to study languages at the Language Tuition Centre, then spent two years working as a cook in Paris.

He decided to become a linguist, spending seven years at university before being appointed lecturer in Linguistics and Modern Languages at a college in Hertfordshire.

He married Jenny Wheeler in 1973, a lecturer in Organic Farm Studies, prompting their move to a farm in Wales to spend their retirement helping to ‘green-up’ the planet.

Jenny passed away in 2014 and Stuart continued working until he passed away peacefully at home on May 10, 2020, aged 81.

Antony John Taylor, late of Cirencester, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 12, 2020, aged 88 years.

A private funeral service took place on Tuesday, May 26.
