CYCLING fundraiser Jane Hough has just completed her latest marathon bike ride, but without going far from Winchester.

Jane, of Ruffield Close, Harestock, usually cycles abroad to raise money for Christian Aid.

But this year because of the pandemic she has tackled ‘Lots of Little Local Lockdown Loops’, but in total more than 1,000km and raised £1,518.

She said: “A very different experience for us all and I hope that none of you have been personally affected by the virus. I think we have all been affected by the sad news from around us and pray that the epidemic is really past its peak as suggested.

“I have benefitted from mostly very fine weather and beautiful countryside that surrounds Winchester. Although I have not been able to go far or see new places or even visit local churches I have seen some lovely things, pretty villages with cottage gardens bright with flowers; bluebells and wild garlic in the woods; hares and squirrels and deer; house martins and skylarks and red kite...and heard the cuckoo twice!”

Jane completed 15 loops in total around: Bishop’s Waltham (61km), East Tytherley (55km), Middle Wallop (55km), Winterslow (73km), Finchdean (98km), Cliddesden (69km), Woodmancote (51km), Upper Froyle (93km), King’s Somborne (51km), Kilmeston (48km), Tunworth (93km), Inkpen Beacon (93km), North Waltham (93km), Newton Stacey (40km) and Chichester (124km). The last one to attend her brother-in-law’s funeral.
