TAXI firm V Cars introduced new measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus and improve the safety of its passengers and drivers.

The operator has made face coverings available to all of its drivers as well as trialling in-vehicle protective screens to help safely separate drivers and passengers.

To minimise the possibility of passengers handling cash, contactless payment options are available on all bookings made via the V Cars mobile app and through its new SMS payment solution AirPay.

Drivers and their vehicles have access to specialist regional vehicle cleaning stations set up in a bid to demonstrate the company’s continued commitment to moving passengers safely around their communities.

Passengers are advised, in line with the government's safety guidance, to avoid contact and sit in the back seat while travelling, to wear their own face covering and to wash their hands before and after travelling.

Regional director Aaron Singh said: “V Cars has always been an agile and evolving business and we are expert at adapting to changing circumstances.

"This is a brave new world and we are very keen to continue our service with as little impact as possible on passengers and drivers, while introducing what safety measures we can.

"Covid-19 means we must all find new ways to go about everyday life safely but conveniently.

“We try and support our communities wherever we can and make things as convenient as possible for them.

“We deliver essential supplies for many, including groceries and life-sustaining medical equipment to those in need. These are also left at a designated safe zone to minimise contact.”

"All deliveries are always left at the door, in keeping with social distancing measures.

“We are wholly committed to keeping our towns and cities moving safely 24/7. Key workers use V Cars as their first choice, knowing that their safety is also paramount to us and the driver-partners.”

V Cars is the south west region’s largest taxi company, with more than 1,100 driver partners operating in Bath, Bristol, Chippenham and Swindon.
