FIREFIGHTERS from Cricklade were called to help tackle a major woodland fire.
The blaze, which broke out in Wareham Forest on Monday, has damaged around 190 hectares of land.
On Friday, more than 150 firefighters from across the county were back on the scene to deal with flare-ups.
A spokesman for Cricklade Fire Station said: “ Yesterday afternoon we were sent to cover Salisbury due to the ongoing fire at Wareham.
“Only 20 minutes into our journey an assistance message came in.
“We were redirected to Wareham forest to assist crews. Great effort by all crews.
“Also, first for the station was working with a wildfire helicopter.”
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service has requested a helicopter from Wales to assist.
The smoke had travelled to Bournemouth, Poole, Ferndown and Wimborne on Friday.
