A shoplifter who stole £200 worth of meat from a Cirencester supermarket and breached a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) twice has been handed a suspended sentence.

Christopher Baker, 44, of Mount Close, Cirencester, pleaded guilty to theft and two breaches of a CBO when he appeared before Cheltenham Magistrates Court via video link on May 8.

Magistrates heard how on February 26, Baker stole assorted meats, to the value of £200, from Waitrose on Sheep Street, Cirencester.

He also breached a criminal behaviour order by entering Waitrose and Tesco Extra on Cricklade Road.

Baker was sentenced to 18 weeks in jail, which was suspended for 12 months.

He was also ordered to pay compensation of £200 to Waitrose.
