Fairford news by Chris Roberts

THIS week there are more events not going ahead because of the lockdown.

These include the Young at Heart Club; the U3A Five Rhythms Dance; the Palmer Hall Cinema; Library Club; Fairford Art Society Get Together; Fairford History Society; Cotswold Oil Engine and Preservation Society.

LOTS of lovely stories about streets in Fairford enjoying their VE Day celebrations at a distance with their neighbours.

These were probably even better than a community-organised event, because they were so special, impromptu and appreciated.

HILARY Cottage Surgery’s Patients Participation Group (PPG) now has its own website: fairford.org/PPG/index.html.

Do have a look and see what the PPG does, advice on the current Covid-19 pandemic, minutes of meetings and more.

THE owner of the Hyperion Care Home in Fairford would like to thank the amazing staff, residents, their families and the community of Fairford for their support.

The care home remains Covid-19 free due to everyone’s collective effort. The residents are happy, safe and secure. Special thanks go to Annette Farrow for arranging the most gorgeous and trendy scrub bags.

GARDEN waste collections re-started again on Wednesday.

But the green garden waste bins will not be collected from eligible households in Fairford until Friday, May 22.

The service is open to all customers who hold a 2019/2020 garden waste licence.

Existing licences have been extended and the district council will start the renewals process in June.

They will not take any side waste. They will not collect any overloaded bins.

Please do not attempt to take any garden waste to household recycling centres.
