WITH no green bin collections now for approaching six weeks, I understand the CDC, in a presidential-style address recently, made what they considered to be, the very helpful suggestion for us to consider it ‘No Mow May’ – to help encourage nature!

I’m not an expert but I thought butterflies, bees etc were attracted to plants and shrubs – not lawns, that generally contain no shrubs and (sometimes) few weeds.

By the same token the local council appears to have decided to stop cutting verges on most or all estates.

CDC has effectively, by their tactic of halving our collections, imposed a disgraceful 133 per cent increase on our green collection charge.

Surely someone could start the process of returning to some normality and that grass cutting and grass collection, which I think are outdoor, open-air tasks, could recommence with safe distancing and sensible organisation.
