THE next St Mary’s virtual church service will be a Christian Aid service on May 10 at 10am.

This would be an ideal service to attend even if you’ve never been before.

Of course in the current crisis and many people facing social isolation, this is a beautiful way to engage with many others giving faith and reassurance to all.

ON Monday, there will be the annual council meeting.

This is the meeting that is held every year to vote in the positions of mayor and deputy mayor and look at the committees for the forthcoming year.

However this year might be a bit more historical as obviously no meetings in person are taking place.

However, with the success of the virtual council meetings, which recently even had members of the public attend virtually and listen in, it has been decided that the election will go ahead for mayor and deputy.

It will be held virtually and by a secret electronic ballot by the current councillors.

If you would like further information or even the possibility of watching and listening please contact Tara by Phone 01666503640 or by email executiveofficer@tetbury.gov.uk.

ALISON Hesketh, tireless fundraiser for Christian Aid for the Tetbury area told me: “Last year we held the 100 Mile Walk and this together with all the means above resulted in us sending over £118,000 to Christian Aid for its work.

"With our inability to raise money by our usual methods, this Christian Aid Week I have produced a fun quiz with questions for all ages, abilities and interests to help in some small way to raise some money for Christian Aid’s work.

"If you would like a copy please email me at alison.hesketh1@btinternet.com.

"And if you would like to, please either send me a cheque made payable to Christian Aid so that I can send them all off together as our contribution for Christian Aid Week or, if you would rather, I will send you the link to my Just Giving page when you request the quiz, that way any donation can be gift aided.

"The answers will be sent on request. Enjoy and have fun!”

HERE is this week’s crisis report from the mayor of Tetbury Cllr Nikki Ind.

She said: ‘’As we come to the end of our sixth week in lockdown, work in Tetbury by the town and district councillors continues, along with our amazing group of volunteers and Sarah Carney at the Covid-19 Mutual Support Group.

"Our thanks to all district councillors, Nikki Ind, Stephen Hirst and Richard Norris for their support in these challenging times.

"If you are aware of anyone who needs support at this time, please ask them in the first instance to contact the Gloucestershire County Council Community Hub, this ensures that the needs of the resident are captured and they are then allocated to the appropriate team/service locally.

"Call 01452 583519 for the service.

"This is a priority telephone line for people who need help or are volunteering, please do not use it for reporting other issues.

"If you require general assistance with shopping, prescription collection or befriending, please contact the local Tetbury Group on 07549 694903 or by email tetburymutualaid@hotmail.com.

"At this time, Tetbury Town Council continues to work, our office team are all working from home and you will have seen the grounds team out and about working, within Social Distancing guidelines.

"Should you have any queries at all during working hours, please call 01666 504670 and your call will be answered.

"All Agendas for every meeting are posted on the Tetbury Town Council website and on our noticeboard, if you would like to attend any of our meetings virtually or to make any comments for the various committees please contact Tara directly at executiveofficer@tetbury.gov.uk."

ANNETTE Farrow and Terri White have set up a Scrub Hub in Tetbury.

They have been pleased with the response so far and have already made their first delivery and that’s within a week.

However Terri said: “We desperately need more people who can sew scrubs.

"Please contact us on the Facebook page via messenger or email t.whitemol@gmail.com.”

They need several levels of competence from beginner to competent and beyond.
