Down Ampney news by Melanie Fouracre
AT the time of writing Sanctuary Homes had written to the parish council to inform them that they hoped to be on site week commencing May 4 to carry out limited ground works at the site. The work was anticipated to take two days. The site is to be managed by Sanctuary Homes’s main contractor Speller Metcalfe and the contract manager responsible whilst the work is taking place is Scott Perrins. The parish council have contact details for Mr Perrins.
The work is to be carried out observing Government guidelines on social distancing due to the Covid-19 situation. The work may have taken place early in the week, but whatever the case villagers are asked to keep away from construction activities to enable Government social distancing guidelines to be observed.
DOWN Ampney Community Garden’s wildlife friendly ethos is paying off, with toads being reported in the garden - all good for keeping the slug population down. The insect house has a new bee and butterfly drinking station, and a peacock butterfly was seen sunning itself on the insect house last week.
TEDDY bears are still appearing around the village in windows, and the creatures in Scrubs Copse seem to change daily. Well worth taking a detour through the copse with your children on your daily exercise walk. The copse is also greening up fast, with many trees blossoming and different wildflowers blooming.
