Arkell’s Brewery have created the ‘Pub in a Box’ to help those in lockdown that are missing their local boozers and favourite tipple.

Arkell’s own various pubs in the Cotswolds including The Golden Cross Inn and The Crown in Cirencester as well as The Plough in Fairford and The Riverside Inn, in Lechlade.

Named The Isolation Arms, the box, which can be delivered to your door, contains a mini cask of Arkell’s ‘Freshest Beer in the Cellar’, two Edinburgh gin and tonic cans or mini bottles of red or white wine, two pub pint glasses, five bags of assorted bar snacks including crisps and of course pork scratchings.

The box also comes with a deck of playing cards, a general knowledge pub quiz, a pen and two traditional beer mats.

There is even a bottle of hand sanitizer that was made from Arkell’s lager and in partnership with Wood Bros Distillery.

It was the idea of head brewer Alex Arkell.

He said: “We are all missing the pub and I am sure others are too during the lockdown, so we have come up with what we think is a fun idea that will give you a night of entertainment.

“We even have a playlist for you to give you your own jukebox.”

Arkell’s have been trying to keep busy during the lockdown and are still delivering beer to homes local to the brewery, and started brewing again in late April with 3B’s and Wiltshire Gold being the first through the brewhouse.

“The pub has always been very much the hub and heart of a community and I know they are all continuing to help keep their local’s spirits up” company director George Arkell said.

“We are doing our best to keep everyone going in these difficult and strange times and look forward to the day when we can all go back to the pubs for 3B’s and a catch up with friends, but acknowledge that the experience maybe different for a while due to social distancing measures.

“We are regularly looking at what we can do when it is time to reopen to help fight the virus and help keep our customers, staff, tenants and managers happy and healthy.”

The box is £40 and is delivery only.
