Fairford community news by Chris Roberts

THE Fairford & Lechlade Business Club AGM scheduled for Thursday, April 23, at 7.30pm in the Farmhouse Kitchen at Thyme, Southrop is now obviously postponed.

A new date will be announced hopefully in the not too distant future.

If you would like more information about the club or would like to join, please contact Chris Roberts on 01285 712150 or email admin@flbc.org.uk.

OTHER scheduled events not taking place at the moment are: Fairford Young at Heart Club scheduled for April 17; a table top sale for Cancer Research that should have taken place on April 18; a Quiz Evening on April 21 on behalf of the Friends of Fairford & Lechlade Communities; Embrace monthly meeting scheduled for April 22 and the Fairford Art Society Get Together planned for April 23.

VULNERABLE people have been advised to have an overnight bag packed and ready in case they are rushed into hospital with coronavirus.

Hilary Cottage Surgery, Fairford has warned that people with suspected Covid-19 may be going into hospital unprepared and without personal necessities such as toiletries, medication, phone chargers etc.

Hospital visitors are currently prohibited due to restrictions to prevent the spread of the virus, leaving family and friends unable to bring in daily necessities.

For people on regular medicines, it would also be worth noting down what you are taking and the times of the day you taken them.

It would also be useful to include copies of any existing care plans.

PLEASE do not dump clothes at the collection bins outside Fairford Fire Station.

Collections are postponed and any clothes dumped there are not going to be recycled and dumping will be classed at fly tipping, which is illegal.

DURING these challenging times, the Friends of Fairford & Lechlade Communities are assisting to make sure the vulnerable and isolated in the community are supported.

We have sent our Nursing team and Patient Transport contact details to all the local village co-ordinators, and our prescription delivery services are continuing, both surgeries have been advised that these are available.

Regrettably, the events planned in April/May have been cancelled: The Quiz Night on April 21 and the House-to-House collection from April 20 – May 3.

Also the Lechlade Charity Shop is now closed in line with Government rulings.
