Gracie Barra Yate Jiu-Jitsu school opened a year and a half ago but due to coronavirus, they have been forced to close their doors.

With just under 100 students enrolled, the school wanted to make sure they could still keep teaching so coach Antonio Bustorff decided to move all of their classes online.

Gracie Barra Yate Jiu-Jitsu currently offer a full timetable of nineteen lessons per week with the classes being a mixture of Jiu-Jitsu, yoga, Thai boxing and MMA.

Coach Antonio said:

"During these uncertain times, we think think routine is good for people. Jiu-Jitsu is about discipline and routine. Jiu-jitsu not only helps with your body but with your mind. It is an immersive, meditative art, it gives people a form of escape.

"We are pleased our students are still able to practice Jiu-Jitsu and its giving them a positive outlook which is what we all need at the moment, Gracie Barra Yate has a real community feel and as a school we hope to get the whole family involved"

Grace Barra Yate member, Wayne Stone said:

"Gracie Bara Jiu-Jitsu is just an amazing community, everyone looks out for each other and even though we will not be physically training in the same room together, its fantastic because we can stay in contact and keep each other motivated.

"The online resources are the next best thing to being in class. The different drills and workouts mean my children can join in with me in my lounge, if they want to.

"The group and environment is one where everyone is completely open and honest, there are no egos and they are all just decent people.

"Gracie Barra Jiu-Jitsu keeps you humble, respectful, determined and motivated and I would urge anyone who is thinking of joining, to sign up during this really difficult time as I think its great for both physical and mental health"
