Hobbs House Bakery in Chipping Sodbury have been reaching out to support local community groups during the coronavirus lockdown.

This week NHS staff and local foodbanks in Yate and Chipping Sodbury have benefitted from donations of surplus bakery goods from the local bakery.

Hobbs house delivered seven boxes of bread to Waitrose in Chipping Sodbury for the NHS pop up shop situated in their café.

Hobbs house bakery have continued their long-standing charity work, despite coronavirus dwindling their custom and each of their shops are working alongside local community groups to support those who need it most.

Anna Herbert, marketing director for the bakery said:

“We don’t like to waste food, especially not in these uncertain times. Yesterday a customer didn’t collect the boxes, so we called upon the local groups and were able to donate for free, to the NHS and also to the local foodbank.

“On the weekend we took freshly baked cakes to our fantastic NHS workers at 111 and we have been working with Nicole at the Vintage Birdcage Cakery to add rolls to their fabulous soup delivery initiative.

“We are aware lots of our customers can no longer get to our shops, so we have set up on online delivery service and can offer next day delivery.

“We will continue to support communities throughout the situation we are all in”

James Ball, Mayor of Chipping Sodbury praised Hobbs House and Waitrose in a post on Facebook, he said:

“Massive thanks to Hobbs House Bakery for donating seven huge boxes of their lovely bread to be given to our incredible NHS workers.

He continued:

“Big thanks to the management of Waitrose for agreeing to the bread being given away in their store, simply amazing”
