These pictures show how quiet the streets of the Cotswolds have become amid a coronavirus lockdown.

Police in the Cotswolds have thanked residents for staying indoors.

Officers on patrol this morning were pleased to see near empty streets, despite the sunshine.

It comes after Prime Minister Boris Johnson ordered people to stay at home unless absolutely necessary in a bid to fight the coronavirus.

This morning, officers were in the south of the district, with Tetbury and The Abbey Grounds in Cirencester deserted.

Writing on social media, Cotswolds Police said: "We will be patrolling parks and open spaces to ensure compliance with Gov instructions.

"Please report any concerns and follow instructions.

"More patrols in south of district today. Tetbury was deserted late morning. Officers also visited nearby Coates."

Officers also shared pictures of Castle Street at midday on Tuesday commenting "Thank you Cirencester for respecting new self isolation guidelines.

And on Sunday officers visited Bourton-on-the-Water adding "Bourton has never been so easy to park in!"
