Climate crisis

Our government has admitted that there is a climate crisis and committed to reducing our emissions to try to tackle the problem. Then in January this year it held the UK-Africa Investment Summit in London. The budget for this was £15.5 million, which came from Aid money. More than 90% of the £2 billion of commercial energy deals announced on the day were for oil and gas projects. These deals are clearly not in the interests of communities in the global south who will bear the worst effects of climate change. Have I missed something or has our government just helped to organize a load of deals which are in direct opposition to what it has said publicly it is trying to achieve. Interesting times we live in.
