Construction work at a Cirencester regeneration scheme has reached a major milestone as the first roof tiles were added as part of the multi-million pound project.

Development at Abbey View, on Paterson Road, is seeing 36 brand new, more energy efficient homes built for rent and shared ownership after two large blocks of flats and a number of garages were demolished last summer.

Bromford is behind the £5.7m regeneration scheme which is the housing association’s first of several similar programmes of regeneration across the county.

The Beeches Estate, to the east of the town centre, is being developed in four phases and roof tiles have now been fixed into place on the initial phase of the site.

Contractors E G Carter, who are leading the build programme at Abbey View, say they remain on track to complete the new development by summer 2020.

Charlie Jackson, Bromford’s associate director of localities, said: “Working in partnership with companies like E G Carter through the Bromford Construction Partnership is enabling us to provide more of our customers with affordable rented homes and it is great to see the fantastic progress being made here.”

As part of the Abbey View development, six homes will be available to buy through shared ownership taking the total to 20 available to buy this year in Cirencester and South Cerney.

Mathew Vye, associate director at E G Carter & Co Ltd, added: “We are delighted to be working with Bromford to re-develop this site in Cirencester to provide much needed affordable homes to the area. We look forward to completing this site in 2020 and continuing to work collaboratively with Bromford as part of the Construction Partnership to deliver even more new homes throughout Gloucestershire and the West of England.”

Residents are expected to be able to start moving to the new 1, 2 and 3-bed homes from next month.
