The COTSWOLDS Dogs & Cats Home in Cambridge is hosting an online auction to mark World Spay Day.

World Spay Day, which is on Tuesday, February 25, is a day when pet owners are encouraged to get their pets spayed or neutered to support population control and keep animals out of shelters.

A spokeswoman for the animal rescue charity said: "We have teamed up with Vale Vets Dursley to promote World Spay Day as they are as passionate about neutering animals as we are.

"Vale Vets have kindly offered to neuter four animals to help promote World Spay Day and the importance of neutering.

"We are hosting an auction on our Facebook page which will allow people to bid on the relevant neuter for their pet.

"100% of each bid will be donated to Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home. There will be four lots (one female cat spay, one male cat castrate, one female dog spay and one male dog castrate).

"The winner of the neuter will be announced on World Spay Day (Tuesday, February 25).

"Payment will be due within 24hrs of winning the auction.

"The winners will need to be local or happy to travel to Vale Vets, Dursley for the operation and again a few days later for the post operation check.

"Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home ensures every animal is neutered before leaving for their forever home.

"This comes at a price and costs the shelter over £10,000 a year to do."

Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home also run clinics in Cambridge and Stroud offering more affordable appointments for those on income support.
