IF being a mascot for Swindon Town Football Club would be a dream come true, then here’s your chance to make it happen.

The Adver has teamed up with taxi and private hire firm V Cars again to offer a fantastic prize to a deserving winner.

All you have to do is nominate a youngster from a local sports team and tell us why they deserve to win.

Nominees may not have the most medals in their cabinet but they could be the heart of your team. They could have overcome adversity or some tough challenges and made great strides in their sport. Whatever the story, we want to hear it.

The package includes a stadium tour, a full home or away kit and the chance to meet the players, as well as leading the team on to the pitch at the County Ground.

We’ll feature a selection of the competition entries in paper before judging all those who were nominated and picking a winner, who will lead the team out for the match against Crawley Town on Saturday, March 21.

Adver editor Pete Gavan said: “This is a great chance to shine a light on a young person who goes the extra mile.

“And it’s a great chance for the winner to lead out Town at the County Ground – a dream come true for any true Swindon supporter.”

Nominations should be sent to newsdesk@swindonadvertiser.co.uk and be no more than 200 words, with ‘Mascot competition’ in the subject line.

We need the full name of the person you’re nominating, the reason why, and yours and their contact details. The closing date for entry is Friday, March 13.

The Adver ran a similar campaign before Christmas which saw Elliot Couchman win the grand prize.

The six-year-old won the competition after he donated bone marrow to his brother Ben, who has leaukamia, because he “didn’t want him to die”.

He led the players out before Swindon Town’s 4-0 victory over Cambridge United.

Before the winner was picked the Adver featured a number of stories from worthy candidates including 12-year-old Ryan Hargrave who had been bullied at school throughout the year as well as helping his mum of three around the house.
