Councillors in Yate have expressed their concern over what they have described as a 'nightmare road surface'.

Church Road in Yate has been a problem road due to the number of serious potholes for a number of years.

Yate Town Councillor Chris Willmore described it as one of the worst roads for holes in the town last year.

Now she has expressed more concern for the surface after a temporary fix job has not solved the problems.

Now though, it looks as though the campaign for the road to be completely resurfaced could be a success, with works planned for later this year.

"Church Road is once again the home for deep serious potholes, some of which are in really dangerous locations by the school," she said.

"There is now good news for residents who have been campaigning to get it properly repaired.

"Last year when I chased them they said they agreed it needed a complete resurface and they had hoped the road would cope until they got to doing it.

"The temporary fix has lasted under a year - with old familiar pot holes returning.

"At last now we have something concrete for when they will do the full job and in the meantime they have promised more patching.

"It would just be so much better for everyone and safer as the road is in a poor state.

"South Gloucestershire Council's officer has been incredibly helpful and responsive throughout the process."

It is expected that the road will be resurfaced by SGC in the school holidays to avoid major disruption to the nearby St Mary's Primary School.
