HAPPY New Year to all.

I wish to thank Teresa who organised, and all the volunteers who offered their time, expertise and fun time, for the Dursley and District Churches Together, annual Friends at Christmas two day event which was held again at Dursley Methodist Church.

This time, because of family commitments, I and my sister went as guests. I have in the not too distant past been a volunteer driver and helper for guests coming from the Dursley district for the two days.

It was a real eye opener to be on the other side of volunteering and receiving this hospitality, to take this wonderful opportunity of enjoying other people’s company and sampling the very tasty homemade meals prepared from scratch.

We even had Christmas presents packed up in a bag and again sandwiches and cakes wrapped up for our next meal.

I wish to thank all those local organisations who have donated money for this lovely idea to take place each year for those people who are unable to be with loved ones and are on their own at this special time of the year.

To thank those kind people who donated presents and those volunteers who went along and wrapped up the presents before the great day.

Dursley is a lovely place to be when you need a helping hand.
