HIGH-FLYING Sharpness gained a 3-1 victory over Broadwell Amateurs in the Gloucestershire County League.

Earlier Broadwell nosed ahead as Lee Hanson rifled beyond Dan Hobbs from 25-yards. However, the Sharks netted parity when Alex Gayner broke into the box and hit a low cross towards the near post but keeper Reed deflected it into his own net.

On 65 minutes Sharpness felt they should have had a penalty when Brad Hewer was tackled in the box. Broadwell broke away at this point and Kris Burnard made a good driving run into the Sharpness half before squaring it to Liam Thomas who was 10 yards out with the goal at his mercy. However, his control let him down which allowed Brad Gibbs to get back and clear the danger.

On 76 minutes a great passing build up from Sharpness on the right saw Dan Gayner play a one two with Brad Gibbs which resulted in Gayner getting in behind Hanson and his pull back cross was met by the advancing sub Finn Small who drove it into the bottom corner.

In the 88th minute Broadwell looked to play out from defence but Alex Gayner blocked a pass and deflected the ball through to his brother Dan who slotted the ball passed the advancing Ben Reed to secure all three points for Sharpness.
