A WOMAN has been flown to hospital in Bristol after she was hit by a car near Ashton Keynes. 

Police said the woman sustained serious injuries.

The crash, which happened at around 7am this morning, closed the crossroads at Spine Road East/West and the B4696 North End. The road reopened at 12.30pm.

A Wiltshire Police spokeswoman said: “We were called shortly after 7am this morning to a collision between a car and a pedestrian on the B4696 just north of Ashton Keynes.

“The pedestrian, a woman in her 50s, was airlifted to Southmead Hospital with pelvic, head and leg injuries, and her condition is described as serious but stable.

The driver of the vehicle, a black BMW, remained at the scene.

Police are now appealing for anyone who either witnessed the incident or who saw either the car or the pedestrian shortly beforehand, to contact them.

They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who has dash cam footage.
