Cirencester Development 0

Shortwood United 4

BRACES from Luke Soule and Joe Wilton gave Shortwood an ultimately comfortable win at Cirencester, writes Jim Cunneen.

Soule had two goals ruled out in the first-half and had to wait until the 43rd minute to open his account – scoring after good work from Kalnins and sub Mills.

Wood scored their second goal after 74 minutes. A quality through ball from Harper – Emerson found Wilton who raced through to score with a low finish.

Wood scored twice more in quick succession in the 81st and 83rd minute. Kalnins and the impressive Halliday combined and Kalnins low cross was turned home by Soule and then a delightful through ball from Byrnes found Wilton who shot across Wright for Wood’s fourth. There was still time for Soule to race on to a ball and fire home only to be pulled back again for an offside decision.

Shortwood: Clark, Langworthy (Nowell 48), Harper – Emerson, Hoskins, Kerr, Halliday, Snook (Byrnes 64), Kalnins, Soule, Black (Mills 32), Wilton

Wood have no game on Saturday and in a change of fixture travel to Bourton Rovers on Saturday, January 18, 2pm.
