The M5 has now fully reopened following this morning's fatal crash.
Two cars were involved in the crash between junction 12 (Quedgeley / Hardwicke) and junction 11A (Gloucester / Cirencester) northbound at around 8.10am this morning.
An air ambulance attended the scene, but a woman from Gloucester was declared dead a short time later.
Her next of kin have been informed.
The driver of the other vehicle suffered non-serious injuries.
All lanes, including the entry slip road at junction 12, are now open but there is currently 4-miles of slow moving traffic and 30 minute delays on the approach.
Any witnesses who haven't yet contacted police should call 101 and quote incident 67 of January 2.
