A local health food shop has announced it's taking over the vacated Barclays site on Lechlade High Street.

The Health Box, who are already based on the town's high street, will be making the short move into the empty building.

The building has been left empty since the banking giant closed its Lechlade branch in July this year.

A spokesperson for The Health Box said: "Some of you might know already or you might have been wondering what is happening in the Old Barclays Bank on the Market Square?

"Well, we are very excited to announce the we, The Health Box, are taking over this iconic building!

"We feel very privileged to have been given this opportunity to help shape the face of this lovely village.

"All this is possible because of the amazing support we had from our customers and this community!

"There will be more space to browse, more remedies (including homeopathic), more natural body care, more Zero Packaging Refills, Organic and Vegan wines and spirits, gluten free beer etc. AND, we will have a couple of beautiful therapy rooms available to rent.

"We really couldn’t be more excited and we hope you are too!"

The Health Box is aiming to open for February 1, next year.
