AN ALVESTON mother was at home with her two children when a group of people starting throwing bricks at their house.

Laura Jones says her children, aged seven and 11, were left terrified by the nighttime onslaught.

Around six people climbed up scaffolding on a building site opposite the Jones’ home on Strode Common and threw bricks and planks of wood.

Laura says their car and lounge window both needed repairs as a result although the police have claimed there was ‘no damage’ caused.

She said: “It was a really horrendous experience.

“The children were absolutely terrified.

“It was going on for an hour and a half.”

Laura also claims her fiancée, who arrived home when the police were there, caught one of the people responsible after searching the vicinity. They were later escorted home by the police when they arrived for the second time.

Speaking about the police response Laura said: “They took over half an hour to get to us.

“They did not do anything.”

“We’ve had no contact from the police since.”

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: “We were called to reports of people standing on scaffolding at a building site in the Strode Common area in Alveston at about 9.50pm on the day in question.

“They were throwing items at houses opposite.

“We attended but the suspects had left.

“There was no damage caused to the victim’s property.

“Police inquiries are continuing.”
