Conservative Sir Geoffrey-Clifton Brown has been re-elected as Cotswold MP.

The long-serving MP regained his seat with a large majority, with 35,484 votes in the constituency he has held for 27 years.

Lib Dem's Liz Webster finished second with 15,270 votes, Labour's Alan Mackenzie was third claiming 7,110 votes and Sabrina Poole (Green Party) achieved 3,312 votes.

Speaking after the result, Clifton-Brown said it was 'great to have the confidence of the people of the Cotswolds', and said it was 'time to move on from Brexit and start doing things that matter for this country'.

Voter turnout was 75.1%, the best turnout in the Cotswolds since 1997.

There were 265 spoilt ballots.

It has been a bitterly disappointing night for the Labour Party as a whole, with leader Jeremy Corbyn announcing he will step down as leader before the next general election with his party heading towards a crushing defeat with a Conservative majority.
